Meet The Team!
Dr. Sunita Driehuys has been a practicing small animal veterinarian since 1994. She received her bachelor’s degree from Franklin & Marshall College in Lancaster, PA. She received her veterinary degree in 1994 from the University of Pennsylvania with magna cum laude honors. She furthered her training with a one year internship that emphasized emergency and critical care medicine.
Since moving to the Triangle in 1996 she has practiced at several high-caliber small animal practices. These experiences led to her desire to create a veterinary practice that could combine the highest quality veterinary care with personalized attention and relationships.
This vision is now being fulfilled through Chapel Hill Mobile Veterinary Housecalls. A core practice philosophy is that the continuous pursuit of knowledge and education is the best way to care for her clients and patients. Dr. Driehuys has been certified as a Diplomate by the American Board of Veterinary Practitioners (ABVP) specializing in canine and feline practice. She lives in Chapel Hill, NC, with her husband and 3 sons.
Dr. Laura Armenti
Dr. Laura grew up in northern New Jersey and (like many vets) became obsessed with animals at a very young age. She graduated cum laude from Syracuse University, where she studied Philosophy and Biology. She then worked as a veterinary assistant for a few years before heading across the pond to the Royal Veterinary College in London. After obtaining her veterinary degree in 2013, she returned to her hometown and practiced for 5 years as a small animal vet at an 8 doctor hospital. She recently moved down to Durham with her fiancé and terrier mix, Pepe, and she is very excited to join Dr. Driehuys and her mobile team. In her spare time, she enjoys exploring all the amazing restaurants in the Triangle area, playing field hockey and singing.
Laura is dedicated to developing trusting relationships with owners and their pets and she is committed to keeping your pets happy and healthy!
Kari Ysland joined CHMVH in 2011. Kari grew up in Norway, but moved back to the States to continue her studies at the University of North Carolina at Wilmington. There she obtained her Bachelor's degree in Biology. Kari volunteered at the North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher for two years before she was hired on as an aquarist technician. She was responsible for several exhibits of reptiles, amphibians and fish during her time there. She also took part in introducing operant conditioning to all the American alligators within the facility. She now enjoys living in a small town setting again and working at CHMVH.
In her spare time, Kari enjoys any form of art work, wildlife and gardening. Her two dogs, Jack and Viper along with her cats, Matrix, Amazon and Pardus, run her household and are also loving the country life.
Elise joined the CHMVH team in December 2017. She grew up in southern New Hampshire, and attended the University of New Hampshire, where she developed a love of horses and riding while volunteering for UNH’s therapeutic riding program. After graduating with a BS in Equine Science in 2016, she moved to Chapel Hill, NC to be closer to her sister. Together they have three cats: Nigel (pictured), Atalanta, and The Mouse. Elise has an interest in sustainable agriculture, and enjoys spending her free time caring for her chickens (Z-ONE, Aporia, and Antimony) and vegetable garden.
Amanda Culberson was raised in Pittsboro, North Carolina and has always had a strong passion for the well-being of all animals large and small. She was formerly a practice manager, having worked in the veterinary field for 11 years, and is very excited to join the CHMV team. Amanda has three cats, Sassy, Scrooge and Baby Beaufort and two dogs, Zoey and Bentley. When they allow her any free time you can find her in her happy place, on the coast with Zoey reading a good book!
